Book Review: THE HONEY-DON'T LIST by Christina Lauren

Title: The Honey- Don't List
Author: Christina Lauren
Genre: Romantic Comedy

Carey Douglas has worked for home remodeling and design gurus Melissa and Rusty Tripp for nearly a decade. A country girl at heart, Carey started in their first store at sixteen, and—more than anyone would suspect—has helped them build an empire. With a new show and a book about to launch, the Tripps are on the verge of superstardom. There’s only one problem: America’s favorite couple can’t stand each other.

James McCann, MIT graduate and engineering genius, was originally hired as a structural engineer, but the job isn’t all he thought it’d be. The last straw? Both he and Carey must go on book tour with the Tripps and keep the wheels from falling off the proverbial bus.

Unfortunately, neither of them is in any position to quit. Carey needs health insurance, and James has been promised the role of a lifetime if he can just keep the couple on track for a few more weeks. While road-tripping with the Tripps up the West Coast, Carey and James vow to work together to keep their bosses’ secrets hidden, and their own jobs secure. But if they stop playing along—and start playing for keeps—they may have the chance to build something beautiful together…

From the “hilariously zany and heartfelt” (Booklist) Christina Lauren comes a romantic comedy that proves if it’s broke, you might as well fix it.

Christina Lauren is an auto buy for me! Anything they write, I just want to devour. I always know I am going to get an amazing story and most of the time a laugh out loud read. And with all the crazy that is going down in the world right now, I think we could all use a little humor.

The Honey- Don't List follows the story of Carey and James. These two are assistant to the Tripp's. James assists the husband Rusty and Carey assists the wife Melissa. Melissa and James run a home renovation company. They remind me a lot of Fixer Upper on HGTV. Carey has worked for them since she was a teenager and helped them build their company but with James just joining the company she knows he has much to learn.

Melissa and James may seem perfect to the public eye and on TV but they are far from it. Carey and James know all too well how they love to bicker and fight. And they want nothing more than to leave the company and find jobs where they will be appreciated but they know at the moment, that they can't leave. They depend on this job.

Though the last thing they want to do is babysit them everywhere they go, that's exactly what they find themselves doing. And the more work they do for the Tripp's the closer Cary and James get. They may find out that this job isn't all that bad.

This book is so fun. I literally read this book in one sitting while I was camping with my family and I highly recommend. It's the perfect distraction for this crazy world.

  1. Obtaining a residence permit in a Schengen country is useful because it allows the copyright holder to move to other Schengen countries without a visa (a travel document with a residence permit replaces a visa).https://www.baltic-legal.com/immigration-eng.htm
