If you know me, you know my Star Wars obsession, knows no limits. I grew up watching the movies with my dad and learning everything there is to know about the galaxy far far away. It's something I've always loved and now with the new movies and characters...my love has just grown.

But for some reason, I've only ever read a handful of Star Wars based books. Though here lately, that has not been the case. It's literally been the only thing I've been reading and watching, and I am not complaining. Reading these Star Wars books have been so fun and entertaining. And that's exactly how I felt reading Queen's Shadow.

This story takes place between Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. It goes through some important periods in Padmé's life and her handmaids. Though the story doesn't have much action, I found myself flipping page to page to page because I couldn't stop. Johnston writes Padmé's character so well and so colorful, I felt like I was watching the book play out before my very eyes.

If you love all things Star Wars and have always been interested in Padmé's life when she wasn't with Anakin, then I highly recommend this story. She's always been a character I've loved. Her tenacious personality and loyalty to her team. She's an amazing character, though she meets a fateful death. She will always be one of my favorites.

A prequel to the New York Times best-selling novel Queen's Shadow, further exploring the life of the iconic Padma Amidala!
When 14-year-old Padmé Naberrie wins the election for Queen of Naboo, she adopts the name Amidala and leaves her family to the rule from the royal palace. To keep her safe and secure, she'll need a group of skilled handmaidens who can be her assistants, confidantes, defenders, and decoys. Each girl is selected for her particular talents, but it will be up to Padmé to unite them as a group. When Naboo is invaded by forces of the Trade Federation, Queen Amidala and her handmaidens will face the greatest test - of themselves, and of each other.

E.K. Johnston had several jobs and one vocation before she became a published writer. If she’s learned anything, it’s that things turn out weird sometimes, and there’s not a lot you can do about it. Well, that and how to muscle through awkward fanfic because it’s about a pairing she likes.

When she's not on tumblr, she dreams of travel and Tolkien. Or writes books. It really depends on the weather.
