Book Review: CUFFED by K. Bromberg

From the New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new series about three brothers, the job that calls them, and the women who challenge them.  “I hate you. I never want to see you again.” Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville—at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again. Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons—sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past. But I’m drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn’t hurt either. It’ll be my downfall. I know it. What’s one night of sex going to hurt . . . right? ***  I’ve always loved Emmy Reeves. That’s why I’m shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up. Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story. I’ll give her the one night she asks for—like that’s a hardship—but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There’s no way in hell I’m letting her go this time without a fight.

I've always been a fan on K. Bromberg's books, so when I heard she had a new one coming out and it was about a hot cop...I knew I had to read this baby. I really enjoyed this story and the message that the story tried to tell. I loved Grant's story and his character. How he always wanted to be the hero of the story and protect those that he loved. He has the sexy cop persona down to a T.

"We don't speak, we react. His exhale, my next inhale. His curse - f*ck - my want. His tempo, my pulse."

Cuffed follows the story of Grant and Emerson. These two were childhood friends, that is until Grant tells Emerson's secret to someone and she vows to never trust him or anyone else again. Ever since this happened when they were kids...Emerson has had a hard life. Though she's tried to make the most of it and overcome her struggles she knows she will never love again and never trust anyone.

But when she finds herself back in her hometown working at Blue Skies she knows it's inevitable to not run into Grant. Especially since he is a cop. She wishes more than anything that she could forgive and forget what he did to her but she just wishes he had never budded in.

"She's sunshine with a little bit of hurricane thrown in, and I'm willingly walking straight into her storm with nothing more than the clothes on my back."

Grant knows things will probably never be the same again between him and Emerson but he can't help the feelings he still has for her. He loved her when he was six and he still does. Though she wants nothing to do with him because she thinks he ruined her life...Grant is out to prove her wrong. And be the hero that she's always needed.

Though I really enjoyed this story, it wasn't my favorite book by this author but I still enjoyed the message. There were just a few things that I didn't really enjoy but that's just me. I do recommend this book if you love a sexy cop and a chance at real love. I look forward to reading more in this series.
