Title: Paper Fools
Author: Staci Hart
Genre: Romantic Fantasy
Release Date: April 17th, 2017

Aphrodite knows love — just don’t ask her to figure out her own mess.

Rather than deal with her sticky love life, she toys with the hearts of unwitting humans. It’s a little game she plays, and the stakes are high. Lucky for her, she’s just found the perfect match.

Lex is everything Dean needs, but he can’t have her.

It doesn’t matter that her eyes speak to a long forgotten part of him, or that her art and poetry touch his shredded heart. She’s off limits — crossing that line would implode his band and everything he’s ever cared about. There’s only one option: stay away from her, no matter the cost. Even if the price is his heart.

Dean is everything Lex wants, but she can’t take the risk.

The second she meets him, she knows her heart is in danger. She’s convinced it’s only attraction that has her hung up on the dark, quiet lead singer, but with every day that passes, she knows it’s more. It’s just that she can’t put her heart on the line. She won’t — love has never been worth the sacrifice.

If only they knew they were just pawns in a much bigger game. And in the game of love, Aphrodite never loses.

Formerly titled Deer in Headlights, Paper Fools has been rewritten and reedited for your enjoyment.

"And when she smiled, his heart sang to her, lighting him up from the inside."

This was my first book by Hart and I definitely wasn't disappointed. I've heard so many good things about her books and when I heard about this one, I knew that I would just have to read. I absolutely loved this book and I loved how different it was.

It wasn't just your typical romance...it's such a beautiful romance and with a twist. I love a good fantasy book and when you mix fantasy and romance together...for me, it's a win-win.

"There was no greater pain, no greater loss that she had ever known."

The Gods are watching over Dean and Lex, they are pulling strings while sitting back and watching, all the while eating their popcorn. Like their life is a movie. Aphrodite has a good streak when it comes to playing the games and she doesn't plan to lose this one.

"She was light in the darkness. She was a beacon that spoke his name without saying a word."

Dean is a manwhore at it's finest. He has no plans on settling down anytime soon, especially after having a crappy go at childhood. But one look at Lex and he's held captive. She isn't even his girl and he knows she can't be but that doesn't stop him from wanting, longing. He knows it's so much more than a crush but is he ready for something so real?

Dean and Lex are about to be thrust into each other lives, without even knowing it and come to find out...they aren't even in control at all. Something higher up is playing a twisted game but they may be just what each other needed. Or this could end in disaster not only for the humans but for the Gods.

"And in her grief, her power washed out of her and over him, through the rivulets of blood that kept him alive."

I had so much fun reading this book and losing myself in this powerful world. I am definitely a fan after this book and will be looking forward to more books to come in this series.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
