Review: TWISTED PERFECTION by Abbi Glines

Rating
4/5 stars

Genre
New Adult

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

After reading Fallen Too Far (and the other books in that series), I've learned one thing about Abbi Glines: She'll leave you left wanting more.  That one sentence couldn't be more true after I finished TWISTED PERFECTION.

It starts off with a flashback into Della's past. Something tragic happens that leaves Della ridden with

anxiety, panic attacks... you name it. Her only friend and neighbor, Braden, takes her under her wing, and eventually Della sets off to find herself a couple years after the event and is ready to cross everything off her bucket list.

Shortly after the book starts, Della meets Woods. Woods is a super attractive man who is trying to carry out his family business and eventually become Vice President. Only problem with that is he has to marry this wretched bitch named Angelina in order for his father to promote him.

After Della and Woods meet, they have a super hot one night stand, but continue on with their lives the next day. Little do they know that they'll cross each others paths a few months down the road.

I don't want to ruin the whole plot for you, because everything is pretty much connected in a way. But I will say that there is plenty of events that just kept me reading on and on.

I loved Woods character. He's not your typical hot asshole in every new adult book (despite earlier events in the book). He's dedicated, smart, loyal, caring.. I could go on. I loved how he didn't care about others opinions either. He simply said what he felt. It was nice to see him finally grow some balls when it came to his dad!
As for Della, she's extremely fragile, and yet somehow strong despite what had happened in her past. I felt really bad for her about 75% of this book though.  Its like the poor girl was a magnet for crap to happen to her.  She starts to get stronger as the book progresses, but not enough as I'd hoped for.

The reason behind my rating is simple. Though I thorough enjoyed reading this book, I didn't quite connect with the characters as much as I did with her other books in this series (Rush and Blaire).
I also feel like it was missing quite a bit of information. After seeing a glimpse into Della's past, she goes to a gas station to pump gas for the first time and doesn't know how; thats when Woods steps in to save the day. Shortly after that, their hook up happens. What I don't get is someone who lacks so much experience in that department, can be so vocal and not really nervous at all. I noticed this other parts of the book too. I know there's time in between the event that happens to Della, to the time her and Woods meet... But it wasn't mentioned at all.

With that said, I still can't wait to see what happens in the next book. The way TWISTED PERFECTION ended left me wanting a whole lot more!
