Enchanted Heart

About ENCHANTED HEART:

Cassandra Vera never ever breaks the rules.

Ever!

She’s also had a nonexistent social life since her best friend moved to Vegas. Armed with a new set of resolutions, the promise of a hot date, and her adoptive parents out of town, Cassandra agrees an overnight road trip to Las Vegas to celebrate her birthday is the perfect way to ring in the New Year. After all, it's Vegas, the city where secrets are meant to stay hidden.  Little does Cassandra know the secrets of her own past are buried there, as well.

In the shadows of the glitz and gaudy lights of Vegas lies a power struggle centuries old. One wrong step and Cassandra could destroy the delicate web of secrets.  Now an enemy she never knew existed is after her and the one boy who may be the missing piece to the puzzle —and her heart— is the one person she can’t afford to trust.

Review:

**This book was given to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

I really REALLY loved this book. And I really didn't expect to love it as much as I did! Such an original concept. Very fun characters, dialogue, world building, and romantic times. So many feels!

Enchanted Heart is about a young girl named Cassandra Vera. She sneaks off to Las Vegas because her best friend recently moved there. Her parents are unaware of her plans and while she's in Vegas, she meets some new faces and discovers a new world that not only involves her, but she's at the center of it.

Let me just say, this story was so good! So mysterious, so much fun! I would like to say that it was action-packed because that's what it felt like, but there was really no "action" in it. It was just a very fast-paced read.

Throughout the entire book, Ruiz is dropping clues like breadcrumbs regarding what's going on and who/what/why/how everyone is. Cassie, our main character, is never fully let in on what she is a part of, which was extremely frustrating, but also very rewarding at the same time. I think this is a smart move, especially from a reading perspective. You find out what's happening with Cassie at the same time that she does. The reader knows nothing ahead of time.

I'm not going to go into detail about the world, because I think it's something the reader needs to experience on his/her own. But I will say that it's a unique world. Ruiz does a great job of developing it, but by the end of the book, it's quite obvious that she's only scratched the surface. There's so much more to be revealed. And it's a great setup for the rest of the books in the series.

Characters. These were such great characters. Cassie was very enjoyable. She was smart, loyal, brave but extremely stubborn. Usually that stubbornness would bother me in a character, but Cassie made it endearing for me. You quickly realize the type of person that she is and you either love that about her or you hate it. I am one of the people who loved it. She was a breath of fresh air for me. Her love interest, A.J? Can I have a slice of him, please? He was a great character as well. They fed off of each other's teasing and flirting. And they both developed in a way that was so believeable to me.

The supporting characters were just as great, even the ones that annoyed me to NO end -- Malory. Olivia was fun, Isaac intrigued me, EVERYONE just felt necessary throughout this book. And that's hard to do, in my opinion. It's hard to do well.

Overall, I really loved this book. Ruiz did a great job of making me care about who these characters were and what they were all going through. I eagerly await the next installment!
