ARC Review: Don't Look Back

Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I'm pretty sure this book is the first mystery/thriller type I've ever read, especially in the YA genre, and I couldn't be more pleased with it! I absolutely adore Jennifer L. Armentrout, anyway - I'm a huge fan of her Lux Series and her NA novels. So, to be honest, I knew the book was going to be awesome. Jennifer didn't disappoint.

Don't Look Back begins when we meet Samantha, who's lost her memories due to a traumatic experience. From there, we see her struggle with trying to find out why she lost her memories, where her friend Cassie is, and who she can and can't trust. Throughout the ordeal, Sam learns that she hasn't always been a great friend, or even a great person for that matter. I think she is lucky in the sense that despite all the horrible things she's said and done in the past, she has friends who forgive her, and want to help her be the person she was before Cassie.
When the mystery finally comes together,  you'll be shocked. It's not one of those mysteries that half way through you go "It was the boyfriend, with a gun." You think you know what happened, or who is responsible for the terrible things that are happening, and then your thoughts are turned upside down when the truth is revealed.
Let's just make sure we discuss Carson before I leave you guys waiting for this awesome book. Carson. The ultimate book boyfriend. He comes from a poor family, so falling in love with Samantha is just something that's not plausible - turning Sam's already crazy situation into something much more. Who has time to deal with a love triangle while they're trying to retain their memories? Carson helps Sam learn to be the girl she was before Cassie, and stand up for herself, and those around her. I don't know that Sam could've figured out what was happening to her, and what had happened to her, without Carson there to back her up, despite all of her shortcomings.
I give this book 5 out 5 stars easily. You must pick it up - even if you're not a fan of murder thrillers, you'll love it.

You can preorder the book on amazon. it releases April 15! What are you waiting for? Pre Order here!
