Review: Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

Review: Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

So, keeping up with that YALLfest swag, I read David Levithan's (co-authored with my hero John Green) book Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I was thrilled. John Green didn't attempt to rip my soul out and the book was hilarious. Introducing me to David Levithan's writing in this way was an amazing experience. If you haven't read any of his work, Start here.

The two voices in this book are very distinct and it's easy to point out who's writing what. I love that. I felt like I was reading two books in one. (if that makes any sense at all. just smile and nod.) On one hand, Will Grayson is witty, smart, and co dependent on his best friend Tiny. On the other hand, Will Grayson hates the world and just wants everyone in it to go away. You'll see what I mean when you pop this bad boy open, and about 1/4 of the way through, it will make total sense why it's titled 'Will Grayson, Will Grayson'.
This book is full of laughter, witty statements, (rude statements), and fun. It's about learning to step outside your comfort zone, about accepting people for who they are, whether that's how you would choose to be or not. It's a great lesson and read for anyone... anyone who's ever judged someone, and let's be honest: That's everyone.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as me! It's honestly one of my favorites now. (and YAY for John Green for not like.. taking more of my heart away.) Can't wait to meet Levithan!
