Review: Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi + Destroy Me Novella

Unravel Me is the 2nd book in the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. If you haven't read Shatter Me, you can find the review HERE
Read in this order! Fracture Me available for download 12/17/13 and Ignite Me available 2/4/14

So, just to get you caught up. You've read Shatter Me and you're totally team Adam right? Right. I mean, who wouldn't be? Warner is such a dick! Then, you pick up Destroy Me, which is written from Warner's POV and you think "I think I was probably wrong about Warner. Something's not right with him.." or something's really right. He wears a mask. He's not as evil as he seems. THEN you pick up Unravel Me and you die. again and again and again and again... but it's the most beautiful, blissful death - and you want to keep living it over and over and over.
Spoiler: Adam has a power. Okay, not really a spoiler but Tahereh wrote an awesome song about it that you should watch:

Alright, so now we're up to speed. In trying to avoid spoilers, let's say that Unravel Me is by far, hands down, the most beautiful book I have ever read in my entire life - and I've read a lot of books. Tahereh Mafi has this way with words that puts even the most legendary of writers to shame. Every page I turned was more beautiful than the page before. This series is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites and there's even a Shatter Me series tattoo in the works.

Let's top that awesome cake with the ice cream that is Tahereh Mafi. I got a chance to talk with her at YALLfest and (hang with me while I fangirl, again.) SHE WAS AMAZING. SHE WAS SO NICE AND SO FUNNY AND SO ADORABLE AND SO FABULOUS AND I THINK I LOVE HER. (okay. I feel better now.)
Back to the whole Warner/Adam thing. I was totally like "how could anyone be Team Warner? I don't understand!" before I picked up Destroy Me... not so much before Unravel Me, but I was still on the fence about him. By the time I finished Unravel Me, I was totally Team Warner. Like all in, hands down, bring it on baby! Warner turns out to be this guy that is just nothing like the guy in Shatter Me. He's just... so complex (and let's face it. really really really really hot.)

Juliette grows tenfold in Unravel Me and turns into this character that you strive to be like. She's so strong and doesn't give up and realizes so many great things about herself and her power in this book. I can't wait to read the next novella (Fracture Me - Dec. 17) and then the third book Ignite Me (Feb 4). I just pray my heart is still in tact when I finish the series.

If I haven't convinced you to read these books, I've lost my hope for you and I officially throw in the towel. GO READ IT...and then check out how awesome Tahereh Mafi is. You can catch her on twitter HERE, Tumbler HERE, Facebook HERE, and you can watch some awesome video from YALLfest HERE.

TEAM TAHEREH!
