Release Day + Review: LONG SHOT by Kennedy Ryan

"Satisfying and soul-gripping!"

-- Lucy Score, Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author

LONG SHOT, a deeply emotional, thought-provoking standalone love story set in the exciting world of professional basketball, from Kennedy Ryan is LIVE!

Think you know what it's like being a baller's girl?
You don't.
My fairy tale is upside down.
A happily never after.
I kissed the prince and he turned into a fraud.
I was a fool, and his love - fool's gold.
Now there's a new player in the game, August West.
One of the NBA's brightest stars.
Fine. Forbidden.
He wants me. I want him.
But my past, my fraudulent prince, won't let me go.

"A raw, passionate, sexy, emotional rollercoaster."

-- Ilsa Madden-Mills, Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author

"It's as if we've crammed so much into the last few hours that there are no words left- none left for me, anyway. All I have is feeling. Need. I need to touch her, to kiss her- I need something physical to reassure me this encounter really happened."

Nothing Kennedy Ryan ever writes disappoints. Her writing is flawless and absolutely stunning. I don't know how she always writes such a flawless story but she does time and time again. I would read her notes or grocery list, frankly. She is one of the best at what she does. Going into her books, I never need to know what they are about, just that they are written by her.

"Hope is the gap between what if and what is, but you have to fill that gap with a lot of hard work."

This book is beautiful. Simply. Beautiful. Long Shot follows the story of Iris and August. Iris is a ballers girl but the life that she thought she was diving into is anything but. All she gets is pain and heartache in this NBA world. But things start to look up when she meets August West, though she knows she will never have him...he's everything she's always wanted. Though Iris knows what it's like to kiss the prince and have him turn into a frog.

"A master craftsman took his time with the dips and lines of her body, ensuring symmetry. He exaggerated her curves, balancing them to perfection."

August loves basketball, it's always been his whole life. His dream to get into the NBA and now he finally has it. August got a massive deal and is playing ball with the big kids. But once he sees her, he knows he has to have her. When August finds out that she has a boyfriend and that she's a ballers girl, he knows she is off limits. But he can't help himself. He needs her. August knows basketball won't last forever but love will. But winning her heart will be anything but easy. It will be the hardest game he's played yet.

"We're mouths clashing, hips colliding, and hearts pounding in tandem, in sync. This feeling is sorcery. Her touch is a spell, and Iris? She's my witch."

When I sit and think about this story...I just want to sit and cry. And smile. This story is everything and more. So much more. Though this story does deal with some things that may be hard to read, I found myself falling for these characters on the first page.

"Center," he says, linking our fingers and toying with the hair hanging on my shoulder. "If you were mine, Iris, there would be no doubt what position you'd hold in my life. You'd be center. I'd play you at the five."

"A STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND READ THIS NOW kind of book. Don't hold your breath, this story will steal it from you."

- J. Sterling, New York Times Bestselling Author
